Free history talks at Hunt Museum
ATTEND to Hunt Museum this week for some insights into local and national histories. First up is Dr Marie Bourke, keeper of Education in National Gallery Of Ireland. She will tell of the stories, histories and evolution of Irish museums and galleries, beginning in 1790. Dr Bourke’s lecture is at Tuesday 22, 1pm, free in.
On Friday 25 at 1pm, Dr Tadhg Moloney will speak on ‘Michael Joyce, the hardworking but unsung representative for Limerick, 1900-1918’. Again, free entry.
CoMA for new compositions
ALL sorts of musicians are invited to join CoMA Limerick to rehearse and perform newly commissioned works by local composers as part of their REACTION project.
Four composers have written pieces inspired by items from the Hunt Museum where CoMA Limerick is ensemble-in-residence. Musicians are invited to join rehearsals on the Saturday November 26 and Sunday 27, with conductor Gregory Rose and culminating in a performance on Sunday afternoon.
While sight-reading ability of Grade V is an advantage, all abilities will be catered for. Parts and further details will be sent to participating musicians before the rehearsals.
