LIMERICK’S DJ/Production School and record shop, Beats Working are celebrating the graduation of their DJ students this Thursday as part of the Sneaky Sound System gig at Dolan’s. Australia’s Sneaky Sound System have just released a third album, ‘From Here to Anywhere’. In 2009 I Will Be Here, a collaboration with Dutch superstar DJ Tiesto, took the duo to the top of the US dance airplay charts. While Connie and Angus of Sneaky Sound System are rocking the Warehouse, the terrace will host the graduates of the Beats Working DJ courses. Limerick Post caught up with Daragh Flynn of Beats Working to find out more.
Limerick Post: Are there many upcoming DJs and producers in Limerick today?
Daragh Flynn: “Yes, both in equal amounts, it is so much more accessible these days. There are so many people using computers, that it has really started a revolution for the generation that has access to Virtual DJ and producer software. This has in turn started an influx of young DJs and producers worldwide, it’s great to see that Limerick and Ireland seem to be well up to speed.”
LP: What are the courses that Beats Working are currently providing?
DF: “We provide Introduction to DJing, covering vinyl, cd DJing and virtual. Introduction to Ableton 1,2 and 3. For live based producers and home studio. Music technology, a more detailed course for the professional producer. Duration 3 modules.
All modules are one month in duration and are undergone in Beats Working one day a week, with computer access all week.”
LP: Sneaky Sound System are headlining the show. Are you looking forward to supporting them?
DF: “Can’t wait!! They are an amazing live act, mashing anything up and doing there own versions of acts like Daft Punk. I am really looking forward to seeing the Hip Neck Blues Collective, these lads can play, they are diverse and talented.”
