The Eagles play Killester this weekend on Sunday November 13 at 3.30pm at UL. Killester always bring their A-game when they play UL and the next instalment is likely to be a really close encounter. UL Eagles Coach Mark Keenan is keen to get back on the court and says “We need to bounce back after last Sunday’s disappointing loss to UCC Demons.
Killester will be looking to bounce back too. I feel we have made great steps forward in the last two weeks and I am looking forward to overturning our defeat to Killester a few weeks ago. If we can eliminate our unforced errors we will have a great chance. We must however contain Killester’s scoring machine Jermaine Turner.”
Meanwhile, in the Nivea Women’s SuperLeague, UL extended their undefeated record, Ulster Rockets celebrated triumph in overtime and both11890 Killester and Waterford Wildcats had comfortable wins against Oblate Dynamos and Liffey Celtics, respectively. UL continued their reign in the Nivea Women’s SuperLeague after defeating Team Montenotte Cork, 87-71. UL’s Rachel Vanderwal piloted her side with a personal tally of 27 points while teammate Aoife McDermott added 12 points. Team Montenotte maintained a close score line until their opponents switched to a zone which allowed UL to secure easy buckets. UL Head Coach James Weldon credited the victory to supporting a deep bench. “We had a great third quarter which allowed me to rotate players to keep the team fresh,” said Weldon.
“Everyone on the court at any time contributed at least one basket so it helped us to quickly build a comfortable lead.”
