‘Wheels in Motion’ Hurling still going strong!

-

The “Wheels in Motion” Hurling Club marks its first birthday this week. A great year was had by all with approximately 30 people, coming to the sessions throughout.
There is always enthusiasm in abundance on display with everybody practicing the basic skill of striking the ball, under the watchful eyes of Head Coach, Dave FitzGerald. This team has participated in some very competitive internal matches, yet always played in a positive spirit. The emphasis is always to have great fun and everyone plays!

GAA National Inclusion Officer, Tony Watene said, “I’m delighted that this positive initiative has got off to a flying start and can see it going from strength to strength”
Many thanks should be given to Delta Sports Dome for making their fine facilities available. This is an initiative run with Munster/Limerick GAA (Pat Culhane, Hurling Development Administrator, Limerick city) in conjunction with Limerick City Sports Partnership, MidWest Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association.
After a break over the summer, Wheelchair Hurling sessions will recommence on Thursday evenings in Delta Sports Dome (Delta Retail Park, Ballysimon Rd, Limerick) indoor hall from 7-9pm on October 13th.
Sessions will continue to run on Thursday at the same time and place until at least Christmas! If you have a hurley or helmet, bring it. If not, don’t worry! We will give you equipment on the night. Also family or friends accompanying budding athletes, can most certainly have a go also. We are looking for new players and volunteer coaches and administrators, so why not give it a go?! All wheelchair users, family and friends are welcome, from Limerick and surrounding counties!
