JOHN Allen will be named as the new Limerick Senior Hurling manager this coming week as the Cork native has been put forward by the three man selection committee.
The Limerick County Board meeting to be held next Tuesday night will see Allen ratified as the successor to Donal O’Grady.

Allen, a member of the St Finbarr’s club in Cork was the manager of the Cork senior hurling team from 2005 to 2006, winning two Munster titles and one All Ireland crown.
Allen was involved in the Cork set up previously too. From 1999 until 2001 he served as masseur with the Cork senior hurling team. In 2003 Allen served as a selector when Cork won the Munster title again, however, they lost out to Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final.
The following year Allen was still a selector when Cork lost their Munster crown but won the All-Ireland title following a victory over Kilkenny.
Allen will pick his own backroom team this week for this two year term with Limerick. Allen is also expected to meet with trainer Jerry Wallace about staying on from last year.
The County Board are happy with selection commenting this week, “We are delighted with John and we look forward to working together well for the coming two years. We would like to thank the three man selection committee for all their hard work in brining John forward as a possibilities
