THE tragic issue of homelessness will be highlighted in a number of events taking place in the Mid West during Simon Week, from October 3 to 9.
Simon Week is an annual event to increase awareness of homelessness and to focus on the issues that affect people, such as unaffordable housing, health and disability, mortgage arrears, poor quality private rented, rent allowance and access to safe, affordable housing for all people.
“We at Simon are planning public events including information stands and some social events such as a classical street busking day in Limerick as well as table quizzes and a band night,” Susan Ward, fundraising co-ordinator, said.
“We are particularly excited to be hosting a stall in the Milk Market on October 8 which will showcase the work of our service users at the city council allotment in Ballynanty, which has been a fantastically successful project, and we will be displaying produce from the allotment on the day and also be providing information on our services to all who drop by”.
