A week of everything for the Blues

-

IT was yet another week of twists and turns for Limerick FC. The Superblues managed a dramatic late win at Tolka Park against leaders Shelbourne, just before finding out that the Dublin side have been reinstated in the FAI Cup.  This of course means that Limerick will face Shels in the cup quarter final on Monday October the 3rd.

This news came on the back of the news that Monaghan United had been awarded a 3-0 win over Finn Harps due to the illegal use of a player. The game between the two sides had originally finished 0-0, so Limerick not only lost ground on the table in terms of points, but Monaghan’s goal difference was also boosted.
The week had started so well for Limerick as manager Pat Scully has agreed to stay for another two seasons. Speaking about the extension, Scully feels that he can make Limerick even better.
“I am obviously delighted to have extended my contract a further two years with Limerick FC and it is very pleasing that the club has shown great faith in the job I have done to date and my ability to bring the club to the next level”.
Commenting on the coming weeks, Scully knows that players cannot rest on their laurels after the win over Shels,
“We have had some great results in the last few weeks and the players have shown a great desire to work and apply themselves to be successful, but it won’t mean anything if we don’t focus on the game this Friday against Wexford. Wexford Youths are a very defensive team and we know it will be a hard game, but our players will be highly motivated for the match.”
With two going up automatically, Limerick will have it all to do. They play at home this Friday night at 19.45 versus Wexford Youths. A real must win game to keep their hopes alive. The season could all come down to the last day as Limerick play Monaghan in the second last fixture of the season.
