Limerick FC have announced that they have reached agreement with manager Pat Scully on terms for a two year contract extension that will run to the end of the 2013 season.   In addition Assistant Manager, Declan Farmer has been appointed Under-19 manager which will also see him continue in his role as Assistant Manager to Pat Scully.

Confirming the two year extension, Pat O’Sullivan, Chairman, Limerick FC said, “We are delighted that we have retained the services of Pat Scully for a further two seasons.  Not only does Pat bring a wealth of experience and football knowledge to Limerick FC but he has also been instrumental in helping transform the club’s reputation in the last number of years.  The on and off field improvements in the last two years are part of a bigger vision to position Limerick FC as a sustainable Premier League club with strong under age and development structures.  Pat has played a huge part in the club’s transformation and we look forward to him continuing to improve the clubs fortunes in the coming years.”

Pat Scully, Manager, Limerick FC, spoke of his delight at faith shown in him by Limerick FC saying, “I am obviously delighted to have extended my contract a further two years with Limerick FC and it is very pleasing that the club has shown great faith in the job I have done to date and my ability to bring the club to the next level.  I am now over two years with the club and have a developed a great working relationship with Chairman Pat O’Sullivan & the board that is based on great trust & mutual respect.  We set out three goals for Limerick FC since Pat has been involved in the club.  One, we needed to set out proper professional structures which we now have in place and is reflected in the standard of player we are attracting to the club.  Two, we identified the need to develop young players from within the club which is reflected by the number of young players who have already made the breakthrough to the first team squad.   Thirdly, we want to gain promotion and more importantly stay competitive in the Premier Division in the long term.   With six games to go we are still right in the hunt for a promotion playoff place and that is our absolute priority in the coming weeks, starting with Shelbourne on Friday night.”

Newly appointed Under-19 Manager, Declan Farmer has been Head Coach of the FAI Regional Centre for the last 5 years and has been Assistant Manager to Pat Scully for 2 years.  Speaking on his appointment he said, “The Under-19 role offers me a great opportunity of continuing to work with young players such as the likes of Steven McCann & James McGrath who we have already brought into the first time squad.  My main aim as Under-19 managers will be to help develop players for the first team who have the talents, skill set and the all important strong mentality to make it as professional footballers.   We are focusing specifically on identifying talent from within Limerick and its surrounds.  What we really want is for the cream of local young talent to aspire to play for their home team and pull on the Limerick jersey in front of their friends and family.”

Limerick FC play league leaders Shelbourne in Tolka Park on Friday night with an 8pm kickoff.
