New funding for Limerick sports

A NUMBER of Limerick sports facilities and clubs are to benefit from a €2.9milion local authority scheme, which is being allocated to projects nationwide.
The Limerick clubs to benefit are: Rathbane Golf club (Various Works €48,521: Baggot Estate, Ballinacurra: Adult Exercise Apparatus at five locations along pathway, €23,223: Newcastle West, & Castletroy, Bocce Courts, €18,813: Castletroy & Newcastle West, Outdoor Gym Equipment, €11,963: Patrickswell Mini pitches, refurbishment/fencing, €23,154: Rathkeale Mini Pitches refurbishment/fencing, €25,000.

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring said that a total of 51 separate projects have been allocated funding on a provisional basis.
“I hope to be in a position to announce further allocations in the very near future, pending the receipt of supporting documentation from some local authorities,” said the Minister who pointed out that the funding is not a new round of the Sports Capital Programme but a “targeted measure for local authority facilities.”
