A MAN has been charged in connection with an incident at Ladbrooks Betting shop in the city centre after he was searched and allegedly found in possession of an imitation hand gun on August 5 last. 26-year-old Anthony Hayes, with a given address at Vereker Gardens on the Ennis Road, is charged with the section 9 offence after Gardai stopped and searched him at the bookies last month. At Limerick District Court, Ted McCarthy solicitor was assigned to the accused after the schedule of arrest, charge and caution was read out to the court.
The unemployed man is in receipt of disability welfare and is currently under the care of NOVAS, according to Mr McCarthy.
The matter was returned by the DPP to the District Court for summary disposal and a statements order was made by Judge Eamon O’Brien for the next sitting of the case.
The matter was adjourned to October 6.
