ARTS page has more to tell you of the Autumn 2011 concert series announced for Castleconnell’s All Saints Church and beginning  Tuesday 13 next, 8pm. According to County Arts Officer Joan MacKernan, The Irish Baroque Orchestra Chamber Soloists (IBOCS) will perform a superb chamber music programme of French Baroque repertoire on period instruments for this first concert of the season.

The Chamber Soloists are a small period ensemble drawn from the main Irish Baroque Orchestra and will be led by artistic director Monica Huggett. She’s a Grammy-nominated violinist. For this project,  Huggett (baroque violin) will be joined by Lisa Beznosiuk, one of the world’s leading performers on early flutes, with Sarah Groser (viols) and David Adams (harpsichord).
An English woman, Monica Huggett is artistic director of both the Irish Baroque Orchestra and the Portland (Oregon) Baroque Orchestra. She has also been appointed as the first artistic director of the Juilliard School’s Historical Performance Program.
Tuesday 13’s programme will include works by the premier French baroque composers of 17th and 18th centuries: Francois Couperin, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Jean-Marie Leclair and Marin Marais.
Tickets for the 8pm concert at €12 may be booked online at www.lcc.ie/events/ or at the door prior to the concert.
