THE long-standing, lucrative business partnership between Robert C. O’Kelly productions and Adele King (Twink) continues. In fact, it escalates with the tour of their latest collaboration, ‘Trading Faces’ which will burn up the country later this year. It comes to UCH in November for three nights from Tuesday 8 to Thursday 10 and look, every hat and bonnet off to Ms King for her superb sense of irony. If mocking is catching,
is there anyone more endearing than she who can send herself up to ‘the gods’, and have those packed-out galleries cry out for more? For the stunning and stunningly gifted Adele King is queen of that corner.
Subtitled “Or…who gives a tuck”?, The bould O’Kelly tells us that, “Trading Faces is the show that lifts everything, especially your spirits”.
We believe him as King’s regular shows at the 800-seater concert hall in Limerick sell out to the point that additional dates are tabled. That is fact.
Back to next November’s (adjusted) beauty. The story goes that “50-something dowdy Dublin dreamer Eve has decided that the answer to a new and exciting life is cosmetic surgery. But will a new face, a tight tummy and a ‘trout pout’ really make her dreams come true?”
Then comes the firm instruction to “laugh, if your Botox will allow and celebrate with Eve as she goes on this hilarious and often touching journey to realise her new look. You’ll be in stitches – and so will she.”
This writer extends her heartfelt admiration to the vivid comic, Trojan actress and terrific looking woman that Adele King is today and has been for five decades of success.
Book on ww.uch.ie for November 8-10, 8pm before everybody else does. This show, this trading of faces, we gotta see first hand.
