IT appears that Donal O’Grady liked what he saw last season. The current Limerick hurling manager is expected to reach an agreement this week with the Limerick County board to extend his stay with the Shannonsiders for at least one more season.
The former All Ireland winning manager was only initially to stay for 12 months with Limerick. That stay comes to an end this weekend, when O’Grady will file a report on the season just gone.
The Cork native had steered Limerick to a Division Two league title, before losing to Waterford in the Munster Championship.
Limerick regrouped from that defeat in Thurles to eventually reach an All Ireland quarter final against Dublin. Even though the result on the day did not go Limerick’s way, the progression for Limerick hurling was immense in his time at the helm.
O’Grady took over last season from Justin Mc Carthy, following on from the player fall out that went with that backroom set up.
All players associated with this years panel looked for O’Grady to return, so the decision for the County Board became a simple on. O’Grady is expected to be ratified at the next County Board meeting.
