THE 2011-12 Junior season kicked off last Thursday and current Premier league holders Pike Rovers sent out a chilling message to all pretenders to their crown as they had a facile victory putting ten past Aisling Annacotty.
All sides were in action again on Sunday with Pike winning yet again but it was Janesboro with their 4-2 victory against Fairview that could see the Boro being dark horses in the coming months.
After their drubbing earlier in the week Aisling bounced back to with a 2-0 victory against newly promoted Summerville.
In Div 1A, in what is always a tricky division, Paul O’Donnell’s Geraldines side had two victories seeing off Shannon Town and newly promoted Caherconlish while Pikes second string also have had back to back victories. County Cork out-fit Charleville are also unbeaten in this league.
In Div 1B Bruff caused a bit of a surprise beating Prospect while Kennedy Park also too had a victory by the odd goal in three against Knockainey.
In Div 2A there was a win for Newport while Castle Rovers and Summerville along with Corbally B and Kilmallock all finished square.
In Div 3B Prospect Priory had to dig deep to see of Northside Legacy while there were victories for Granville, Cals, Meanus and St. Pats.
All in all a bright opening to the new season and in the coming weeks we will see a pattern falling into place as to who will be their or there about in the challenge for respective honours.
