BRINGING back the excitement and hype of going out to see a live band in the pubs and clubs was the initial driving force behind The Wig Wam Glam Band when the formed in late 2009.
The glam rockers bring Glam Rock and 70’s Disco music played hard with some “style, swagger and confidence”, according to guitarist, Mr. Rocky Bal-Featherbowa.
“We reckon that people need a good stiff dose of sweaty, high octane, balls out Glam Rock mania to help folks forget the bills and just get deep down and dirty for the weekend!!!
Having travelled the globe to find and recruit the perfect band, front-man Mr. Wig Wam Von Trappe states that “This is it, The Wig Wam Glam Band are the greatest Glam Rock Band of all time, past, present and future”! The band is an amalgamation of the finest Glam Rock troubadours on the planet. On Bass, Mr. Persival Platforms, On Guitar, Mr. Rocky Bal-Feather Boa, On Drums, Mr. Manny Fagnet and leading the troops into battle is Mr. Wig Wam Von Trappe on front-man duties.
With the band assembled, the classic glam rock music of the early 70’s gets the “Wig Wam” treatment and the rockers are a sight to behold in garish costumes and layers of facepaint. But this being 2011 Limerick Post put it to Mr. Wig Wam Von Trappe that this sound is over 30 years old, how do today’s crowd react to Glam Rock, do they still know the songs?
Von Trappe answers, “It seems that Larry Gogan has a lot to answer for!!! For some reason, young or old, everybody instantly recognizes the 70’s glam rock hits. At a Wig Wam Glam Band gig you’ll realise you know every word to every song (but you won’t know why!!!). Try as hard as you like…you won’t be able to stop dancin’ like a gobshite all night long”.
The Wig Wam Band perform classic anthems from artists such as T-Rex, Slade, Sweet, David Bowie, ABBA, Queen, AC/DC, Gary Glitter etc. with songs like “Ballroom Blitz”, “All the young dudes”, “20th Century Boy”, “Video Killed the radio star”, “Leader of the Gang” and classic 70’s disco hits like “Do you think I’m sexy” by Rod Stewart and much much more…
With musicianship of the finest order the ever popular Mr. Manny Fagnet on drums, is adament that these love children of Marc Boland and Ziggy Stardust are the “best glam rock band in Ireland.” “Hope you’re ready guys and gals, you may need to bring a change of underwear”, warns Mr Manny Fagnet, “this is gonna be one hell of a night! Not since The Alvin Purple Experience havoc of the 90’s and early 00’s will the poor souls of Limerick have witnessed such an assault on their eardrums! The Wig Wam Glam Band is coming to reignite the Glam Rock Torch in Limerick…don’t miss it!!!
