Arts notes in brief

Music from Baroque era
JOAN Mac Kernan, arts officer for Limerick County Council, has confirmed a Baroque  era theme for Castleconnell Autumn Concert Series 2011.  The concerts will take place in their established home of All Saints’ Church in Castleconnell on the second Tuesday or months September to November.

“The comfortable little All Saints’ Church has established a reputation as the premier venue in the Limerick area for top-class chamber music,” observes publicist Tony Rodgers. “This year’s programme, ‘A Musical Offering from the Baroque Era’, will feature various ensembles whose work is top class”.
Count among them Irish Baroque Orchestra Chamber Soloists with artistic director Monica Huggett; Camerata Kilkenny with Swiss baroque violinist Maya Homburger; renowned English baroque ensemble, Passacaglia. Composers featured will include JS Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Telemann, Couperin, Rameau and others.
