VALUED at €175,000 and having recieved 100 per cent funding from the Department of the Environment, Cimmunity and Local Government, Mayor Jim Long received the keys to a new water tanker on behalf of Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service this Tuesday.
Limerick Fire and Rescue service now have the ability to fight larger fires for longer after taking charge of the new tanker. Similar vehicles have been delivered to both Cappamore and Rathkeale stations.
The new water tanker was constructed by High Precision Motors of Tullow, Co Carlow after the unit was designed by Limerick City Council Fire and Rescue Service.
Designed to already compliment the service’s fleet, the new state of the art vehicle will repalce and older model water tanker, thereby adding to the Service’s capability to tackle larger fires.
The unveiling of the vehicle took place at the service’s Mulgrave Street base this week where it was blessed and inagurated into the station’s fleet.
