GARDAÍ are continuing to search for a man who escaped from prison authorities last week. He was being transported from Limerick Prison to the District Court on Merchant’s Quay when he fled prison custody.
It’s believed the 19-year old was due before the court on foot of a previous bench warrant that had been issued for his arrest.
When the case against the accused was called before the District Court on Wednesday week last, Garda Inspector Jerry Horan informed the court that the teenager had escaped from custody and was unlawfully at large.
A source at Limerick Prison told the Limerick Post this week that, the prisoner slipped out of handcuffs as he was being led from a prison van into the court.
