Music and seeing double in Ballybunion

THE beachside town of Ballybunion in Kerry is the location for the first Atlantic Sessions Festival happening from this Friday August 12. Atlantic Sessions will be a blend of pop and traditional music, from Jedward and X Factor runner up Lloyd Daniels to the Wolfe Tones and Big Generator, with many of the musical acts hosted in The Big Top as well as in local venues.

The line-up for the coming weekend is Abbaesque on Friday Aug 12, Republic of Loose and The Wolfetones on Saturday and Gemma Hayes and Fish go Deep on Sunday.
While rambling around the beachside town, don’t be surprised if you think you are “seeing double” on Sunday August 14 as Ballybunion aims to beat the Guinness World Record for the most twins in a town at any one time by holding the Twins Plus Parade. With Carrickmacross currently holding the Guinness World Record with 252 sets of twins, the time is right to try to beat that record while Ireland’s most famous twins, Jedward are in town. All monies raised by the event will go towards funding an Autism Unit.
