WHEN you ask Donal O’Grady a question he normally answers with a wry smile on his face. The Cork native always give the impression that he is one step ahead of you at all times. When Postsport asked him this week whether Limerick would fancy their chances against Dublin on Sunday July 24, the manager of the Limerick hurlers was quick to remind this hack, of where Limerick are right now. Smile on his face of course.
“When you get to a quarter final you are facing some serious teams and Dublin are no different. The game next week will be the National Hurling League Division one champions against the Division two champions. There is a gap of about eight teams there. I have always said that at the end of every game, we will know where Limerick hurling is. To fully know where we can get to, well, that will be answered when our season ends. The other teams in the championship like Dublin, Kilkenny and Tipperary have all been building for years. Some of our lads did not play last year, so we will have to see how we get on”.
The hardest thing for any Limerick fan is to keep their feet on the ground. A large Limerick crowd is expected to travel to Thurles on Sunday week in what will no doubt be a classic.
