THE Irish Chamber Orchestra will present a unique prom concert, Summer Serenade, at Limerick’s Milk Market on Sunday 17 July, 3pm. This is the first classical prom concert to take place in Limerick’s tented venue and we’re advised ahead on “some foot stomping classics” in a lively performance.
This will be a price friendly afternoon with admission €10, concessions €5 and a special family ticket for €25.
Distinguished UK violinist Bradley Creswick directs the orchestra in Summer Serenade, “a dazzling programme that features a host of landmark works from a variety of great composers,” enthuses PRO Charlotte Eglington. “Timeless classics include Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, Mozart’s prodigious Divertimento in D, K.136, a world première by Irish composer Mícheál O Súilleabháin alongside popular gypsy melodies”. Bradley Creswick has attracted fans who are not necessarily devotees of classical music because many know him as a brilliant exponent of ferociously fast gypsy music. The way he plays defies people to remain motionless in their seats as his bow becomes a blur over the strings.
“He brings total commitment and stunning accuracy to his performance,” Charlotte says. “Creswick’s passionate involvement and virtuoso technique ignites admiration wherever he performs and nobody who has seen Creswick play a solo is likely to have gone away unmoved by the experience”.
All ours for a tenner on Sunday Summer Serenade afternoon.
