GEORGIAN House and Garden are to close officially at the end of August after 17 years. The five staff were given verbal notice by head of Limerick Civic Trust Dr James Ring, on the grounds that maintaining the living museum, performance salons, garden and administration at No. 2 Pery Square were untenable financially. Another two staff at Bishop’s Palace are being let go by the trust.
Four of the five staff at Georgian House have served for 17 years since it opened and the fifth employee is there nine years. Staff have been told that they will receive statutory redundancy only.
