LIMERICK FC last night unveiled Joe Gamble and Denis Behan as their two new signings. The pair are not available until the Athlone Town game on July 16th, but the capture of the famous duo, along with the plans unveiled on the night for the future of Limerick FC will warm the hearts of Limerick’s long suffering supporters.
The announcement of the signings formed part of a presentation by Club Chairman, Pat O’Sullivan, on the future direction of the club including plans for the development of the Markets Field in time for the 2012 season, an overview of Underage Player Development and Community Programmes and details of the ongoing Third Level Talented Footballer Scheme.
Speaking at the press conference, Pat O’Sullivan, Chairman Limerick FC, stated: “I am delighted that such high profile players see the potential that this club has to be a huge success both on the field and as importantly, off the field within the local community. We had a number of goals at the start of the season that are now coming to fruition.
“Firstly, we wanted to secure the Markets Field as a home for senior soccer in Limerick, which we have now been able to do due to the kind support of JP and Noreen McManus and the LEDP. Between now and the start of the 2012 season we will be installing a new floodlit playing surface at the Markets Field, renovating the existing Stand, installing dressing rooms under the stand, upgrading the existing Bar, opening a new Club Shop, new Club Offices and a Club Museum.
“We will also continue to expand and develop our underage and community programmes, develop further our Talented Footballer Scheme along with regional Third Level Institutions and hopefully achieve our on-field ambition of gaining promotion to the Airtricity League Premier Division.”
Limerick FC is delighted to announce that Denis Behan and Joe Gamble have agreed terms with the Club to join the team.
The players were presented to supporters and media at a press conference this evening at Thomond Park.
County Limerick native Denis Behan, 27, is a former Ireland Under 21 International and signs from Hartlepool United, having previously played for Cork City. Joe Gamble, 29, also joins from Hartlepool United – he was capped twice at senior level by the Republic of Ireland in 2007. Both players will join a Limerick FC squad challenging for promotion to the Airticity League Premier Division this season.
Speaking at the press conference, Pat O’Sullivan, Chairman Limerick FC, stated: “I would like to welcome both Joe and Denis to Limerick FC and am delighted that such high profile players see the potential that this club has to be a huge success both on the field and as importantly, off the field within the local community. We had a number of goals at the start of the season that are now coming to fruition.”
Limerick FC is also delighted to present the following young players, who join the Club for the remainder of the 2011 season:
- Tinotenda Nzvaura (Pike Rovers)
