Should we let homophobic couples marry? Does God hate sex? Was Jesus mixed race? And how does the Ku Klux Klan view President Obama?
These are a few of the questions the creator of ‘Eco-Friendly Jihad’ and ‘Jesus: The Guantanamo Years’ will ponder in his new show coming to the Belltable.
Direct from Los Angeles and Edinburgh, ‘Sex, Lies & the KKK’ is the latest show from Abie Philbin Bowman. Abie is the only western stand-up to perform religious comedy in Pakistan, during the 2007 state of emergency. He has been taken seriously by Al Qaeda and boycotted by Ian Paisley’s DUP in Belfast when touring his previous show ‘Jesus: The Guantanamo Years’.
Abie Philbin Bowman is the son of broadcaster John Bowman and the brother of the late journalist Jonathan Philbin Bowman. On the night Barack Obama was elected US president, Abie exclusively interviewed the KKK’s National Membership Director, Rev Travis Pierce live on Irish Radio (i102-104), beating CNN, BBC and Fox to the exclusive in the process. His take on prejudice and sexuality delivered with his sharp and acerbic wit and his trademark irreverent take on serious issues have ensured that Abie Philbin Bowman’s shows regularly sell out fast.
Expect a night of sharp wit and laughter when Sex Lies & The KKK plays at the Belltable this Thursday June 23.
