LIMERICK contortionist Daragh Merritt, is performing in his hometown with Fossetts Circus at the Castletroy Shopping Centre.
The Corbally man is delighted to have secured a top billing with this long established circus.
“I’m very proud to represent Limerick- there aren’t many Irish circus performers, let alone locals”.
Last year, Daragh’s act made it to the final of RTE’s All-Ireland Talent Show.
“Fossetts are really respected and they are great to work for.
“The All-Ireland talent show really put me out there.
“I’ve being trying to get a job since I finished my Leaving Cert last year.
“Fossetts took me in March and they have been teaching me how to improve my act and how to present myself”.
Daragh, who wanted to join the circus when he was four, said it’s a dream come true,
“Now that I’m involved it’s definitely what I want to keep doing. I’m learning so much from Fossetts.
“They have divided my show into hoops and contortion. They also added a bit more edge by getting me to perform from a height”.
Daragh has travelled across Ireland with Fossetts.
“I’m learning so much from the other performers and I’m going to combine my hoops act with a Hungarian girl who has a lot of experience in that discipline”.
