A 1.89million euro investment is to be directed towards public transport projects and help provide construction related employment in the city.

Members of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee have been informed by director of services, Oliver O’Loughlin, that the council was asked to come up with a number of projects before the end of the year.
“The projects involve various physical works around the city, which will give employment – one or two may be taken off the list, but most will deliver for the city,” he said.
“I am very pleased that Limerick is set to receive €1.89 million, a considerably higher amount than any of the other provincial cities. “ In total €5 million was allocated under the fund to the four provincial cities”.
Deputy Kieran O’Donnell, said the “shovel-ready” projects come under the government’s Jobs Initiative.
