Le Mond returns for Get Back Challenge

TWENTY five years after winning the closest Tour De France race ever held, cycling legend Greg LeMond will take to the roads of Limerick.  The City of Sport will welcome LeMond who will cycle in the Get BACk Challenge which takes place on Saturday July 2nd.

 

In 1986 LeMond won the Tour de France by eight seconds over Laurant Fignon is what was described as the best Tour ever raced.  The Get BACk Challenge fundraiser will feature a 100km cycle from Limerick to Doonbeg while a 10k fun run / walk while also take place on the same day.  Proceeds from the charity event will support health and obesity interventions for socially disadvantaged children and also contributes to hospices in the Mid West.
The Get BACk Challenge is organised by Focus Consulting and is open to individuals and teams from workplaces across the Mid West with a limited number of places available in the cycle and the run / walk events.  The minimum sponsorship target to take part in the event is €150 per participant plus registration of €50.   Registration of €50 is online through the getbackchallenge.com website.   Participants will receive an event cycling jersey or adidas t-shirt in addition to on route refreshments and a BBQ and entertainment at Doonbeg Golf Resort.
