THOUSANDS of Junior and Leaving Cert students across Limerick sat their State exams on this Wednesday, with English Paper 1 at 9.30am.
Niamh Cantillon, from Kilcornan, Junior Cert, and sister Louise, Laurel Hill Coláiste, expressed confidence about the day ahead.
“I am feeling fine about the exams. In our school, we have to wait until fourth year to sit the Junior Cert so it feels as if I have been waiting for years to do it,” said Niamh.
Some felt that starting with English Paper 1 helped to ease them into the State exams.
Janessa Clancy, from Prospect, also a student in Laurel Hill Coláiste, is sitting her Junior Cert and felt that the English paper was a good starting point.
“Although I am very nervous, it is good that we are starting with English. I feel a lot more comfortable”.
Laura O’ Reilly, from Adare, and Ciara Hanly, from Ardnacrusha, were a little anxious.
“Last week, I was fine about the exams but it feels as if it has just dawned on me today that I am doing the Junior Cert. I am very nervous,” said Ciara.
