RESIDENTS in a Ballinacurra Weston house were lucky to escape uninjured after an arson attack on their home at the weekend.
On Saturday, May 28, a house in Hyde Avenue was entered at around 5.45am.
A fire was lit causing considerable damage to the house, which was occupied at the time.
A smoke alarm sounded, waking the residents, who escaped unharmed.
“This appears to have been a deliberate attempt to set fire to this house, with no consideration for the safety of the occupants”, said crime prevention officer, Brian Broderick.
“This was a disturbing incident that could have resulted in serious injury, or even the loss of life”.
Roxboro Road gardaí are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Hyde Avenue area on Saturday morning, to contact them or the Garda Confidential Phone-line.
