Olivia O’Sullivan visits for diamond microdermabrasion
Tropical Sun in a salon tucked away in a basement premises of O’Connell Street that is known for being a very popular tanning studio with new air-conditioned facilities and always new lamps on their sunbeds. What you might not realize about Tropical Sun however, it that it is more than just a tanning studio,
it is also a beauty studio offering a range of beauty treatments from permanent make-up, eyelash extensions, and gel nails, to waxing, eye treatments and diamond microdermabrasion.
The owner, Agnieska, is an experienced professional having trained in Poland and again in Ireland before opening her own salon. I visited her last week on invitation to try the diamond microdermabrasion treatment. This treatment revitalizes dull skin, reduces large pores, erases fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, reduces mild pigment irregularities (hyperpigmentation), stretch marks and age spots. It is equally effective to other skin treatments (on superficial imperfections) and, most importantly, it allows you to get back to your daily routine immediately after treatment.
Microdermabrasion is a skin resurfacing treatment that rejuvenates and restores a natural glow to the skin. It consists of peeling off the dead-epidermis, which achieves an immediate smoothing effect and luminous skin. It helps in the fight against wrinkles while cleaning pores, firming the skin and eliminating small discolourations. It is a non-invasive and painless treatment which takes about an hour, after the treatment a beauty mask is applied suitable to the given skin type, which is packed into the skin with the use of ultrasounds so that the substances contained in the mask deeply penetrate the skin.
After my treatment I had some redness in the areas of my face that Agnieska had focused on as they needed particular attention but my skin felt incredibly smooth and rejuvenated. I was going out that night so was delighted I could apply a full face of make-up without any problems and while I did experience a little dryness in the days that followed in certain areas which had required particular attention, this soon went away and my skin is still thankful of the pampering.
If you have problem skin you may need a course of a few treatments several weeks apart to get the best results, but even those with normal skin issues could benefit from a one-off microdermabrasion treatment to buff away the old layers of dead skin and reveal the young layers beneath and a more youthful, luminous you!
