THIS coming weekend Friday May 21 and Saturday 21 sees the annual convention and AGM for the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Vaulers. Sean Gallagher of Dragons’ Den will address the forum on Saturday afternoon and Minister for Housing and Planning, Willie Penrose, is another guest speaker. Ernst and Young’s Neil Gibson is booked to address the convention as is the IPAV’s chief exectuvive Fintan McNamara.
Expect themed talks and summaries and not much talk of property moving for another year while prices bottom out by December.
Taking place at the Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan, 2011 is a special occasion as the Institute celebrates its 40th anniversary. The weekend affords all members an opportunity to reflect on the successes and achievements of the IPAV’s existence and to plan for the future, says president Paul Reynolds.
“As it is opportune to look back, so too, it is also an opportune time to look forward and to discuss the role we wish IPAV to play in the future and, in particular, how it can best serve the interests of all its members. With this in mind, we have set aside a period on Saturday 21 afternoon for a Members’ Forum when well-known motivational speaker and TV ‘Dragon’ Seán Gallagher will lead a discussion on where the institute should be headed and the route it should plan in the coming years. There will be an opportunity for every member present to voice his or her view as to the best course for IPAV and how the Institute can improve its service for members”.
