“We would be nothing without their help” Shane added. “Fighters like Willie Casey would not be who they are today without the help of the lads in the Dominican Hall”.
Shane, of course is being somewhat honest also. The headcoach of OLL St Saviours Boxing club has been ably assisted by Martin Donovan, Paul Mc Guigan, Gary Harris and Paul Manghan in the training of some very talented Limerick fighters. Indeed, only as recently as last weekend the club picked up four golds and two silvers at the Munster Championships in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork.
The winners of Gold were Paddy Donovan, (11 years old, 39 kilo category) who won four fights to win his medal. Myles Doherty (13 years old, 54 kilos category) who won his straight final. Ned O Donnoghue, (13 years old, 63 kilos) who won his straight final and Martin Mongans, (11 years old, 52 kilos category) who won two fights to claim his crown.
The silvers went to Tony Harris, (13 years old, 60 kilos category) who won two fights, but lost final and Danny Harty, Silver, (12 years old, 70 kilos category), who lost his straight final. All of these fighters now progress to the All Ireland championships.
