JEDWARD (John and Edward Grimes) became a household name when they wowed audiences on the X – Factor and despite not winning the show their first single, Under Pressure, featuring Vanilla Ice soared to number one and two in the Irish and UK charts. The twins have to date sold out many tours of Ireland, including 4 dates in UCH last year!
Jedward return to Limerick next week for their biggest and best gig yet. The Bad Behaviour Tour features a whole new show with brand new songs, new production and Jedward’s very own dance troupe. Limerick Post caught up with Edward Grimes and tried to get a word in
Limerick Post: Hi Je….
Jedward: “Hi Limerick Post, We love Limerick. We are always bumping into cool people down there. We love the way there is so many churches, and there is so many things to do down there and there are so many tourist attractions.
It is really weird OK! Coz everytime we come down to Limerick, there is always like crazy fans outside the concert.”
LP: You got a lot of family down here too?
Jedward: “We have loads of family down there. There is always a party after the show and they all try to sneak in and they are like “We have tickets!” and we say, Like! guys we see you loads of times!”
LP: Vincent Brown is from Limerick too. Did you have fun when you were on his TV show?
Jedward: Yeah He was so cool, like being at home with your old uncle or something, and we’re all going crazy. Before the show he was on the computer trying to look up all the latest stuff. He kept trying to outsmart us. I think we outsmarted him on the show. He was really nervous he had a piece of paper, like to prompt him. I don’t think he really looked at it. I think the whole structure of the show just went out the window.”
LP: And you hit him with a cushion?
Jedward: Yeah it was really funny because after John hit him with the cushion, when we went to commercial break, He wacked it back at John and he was laughing saying “I hope no one has seen that”
LP: I think the whole country has seen it by now. Any plans to make your own TV show?
Jedward: We are going to have our own TV show with BBC. It will be out around May.
LP: Are Jedward the new Ant & Dec?
Jedward: I like Ant and Dec and I like the fact that they are friends. But me and John are related to each other so we don’t have to try and meet up cos we are always together. We’re real close and we kinda bounce off each other when we are doing interviews.
LP: What next for Jedward?
Jedward: Me and John, when we go home everyone is like “Oh my God ye are amazing ye have done this, done that”. But we are only starting off now. Everything we have done in the past doesn’t mean anything. We realise if you don’t keep doing things you will just totally fade away. You gotta be persistent take it step by step. We are always thinking about what we are going to be doing next, responding to fan mail, getting ready for gigs, picking out new clothes … “
LP: Have ye heard of the Rubberbandits?
Jedward: “Oh yeah they’re cool We’ve seen them on You Tube. They are kinda crazy with their plastic bags. When we come to Limerick we might make a Jedward plastic bag and wear them instead of shopping bags.”
Jedward’s brand new Bad Behaviour Tour comes to the UCH, Limerick next week on Friday, April 15 and Tuesday April 19.
