Win a must against Cavan in NFL

-

THE Limerick footballers are currently bottom of Division three of the National Football League. With no wins from their first three games, Limerick are almost at a must win situation this Sunday as they take on Cavan, throw in at the Gaelic Grounds is at 1pm.
Speaking this week to PostSport, Limerick manager Maurice Horan, feels that the performances are improving and this weekend will have to be the start of a run.

“I think we will need 6 points to avoid relegation. It may only be three wins, but we need to start getting them. This weekend is a really big game. Cavan are traditional football county and they will be very strong. Football is their main sport, so they have the strength and depth. We will need to be at top form to get any type of result” added Horan.
Limerick have lost so far this season to Offaly, Tipperary and Waterford. The loss to Offaly was hard to take as Limerick lead going into injury time.
“We needed that win really. We will learn from that defeat. It was a tight game, as all games in this division will be. This division is so competitive. You can tell how hard it is by how far some of the teams from it, go in the championship. Look at Down. They were in Division three, two years ago and they contested an All Ireland final last year” continued the new Limerick manager.
With the loss to Offaly still fresh in the memory, the Limerick squad will be eagerly anticipating this weekend’s clash. One which will serve as an opener to a double header at the Gaelic Grounds. With Stephen Lucey, Stephen Lavin, Barry Fitzpatrick and Paul Kinnerk all out injured, Limerick will once more look to their experienced players to take control of the game.
“There is still a bit of ‘getting used’ to each other going on at the moment. That will always happen with a new management team. The mood in the camp is good and we are all eager to win in front of our fans in Sunday”.
