JS Bach, Handel and Telemann

The baroque era’s unique styles, textures, and forms continue to enchant millions today, especially with respect to its music. Irish Chamber Orchestra has invited a baroque specialist of vision to conduct the orchestra for a concert of Bach, Handel and Telemann taking place in UCH on Thursday March 24.
Matthew Halls is one of the UK’s most exciting young conductors and an acclaimed keyboard player.

A former artistic director of The King’s Consort, Halls has conducted in prestigious venues including the Concertgebouw, La Cité de la Musique, the Konzerthaus, Berlin and at the Palais des Beaux Arts.
For the March ICO concerts in Limerick, the Bailey Allen Hall in Galway and RDS, Dublin, Nuria Rial is the soprano from Catalonia who made her name interpreting Handel.  With an extensive discography, no fewer than three of her recordings were awarded prizes in 2009 alone.
JS Bach, Handel and Telemann greatly influenced the shape and course of classical music.   Bach, was a genius keyboardist and composer who, brought baroque music to its culmination, writing for every type of musical form.    Born in the same year, 50 miles away, Handel composed for every musical genre of his time, even creating the English oratorio.
Their distinguished musician friend Telemann also had a vast output, ranging from operas and cantatas to concertos and intimate chamber works.
Take it all in at our concert hall on Thursday March 24, 8pm.
