Three partners have already resigned
LOCAL law firm Dermot G O’Donovan, Solicitors, has confirmed that changes have been made to its management structure.
Former Limerick football captain Muiris Gavin, has been appointed to take over the management of the firm.
His appointment coincides with the resignation of partners Dermot G O’Donovan, Adrian Frawley and Michael Sherry, who will, however, continue as consultants to the firm.
Said Mr Gavin: “Dermot G O’Donovan is one of Limerick’s longest established firms and I am extremely pleased that the former partners will continue working with the firm on a full-time consultancy basis.
“This firm will remain focused on delivering expert legal advice to our strong customer base, across Limerick and beyond”.
Mr Gavin, who is from Monaleen, has worked across all areas of the practice since joining Dermot G O’Donovan solicitors in 2000.
He has particular expertise in commercial law, holds a Diploma in Commercial Law from the Law Society of Ireland and is also an Associate of the Institute of Taxation.
He is also on the Criminal Legal Aid panel for the counties of Limerick, Clare and Tipperary.
The three solicitors stepped down as partners at the end of 2010, while former partner, Tommy Dalton, resigned early last year and has since left the firm.
The four are believed to owe Anglo Irish Bank more than €80m through their investment in the failed Fordmount Property Group.
Last year, this newspaper reported that the firm was in the running to become legal advisers to NAMA.
The firm employs 25 people.
