Vote in one of our three polls running during election week
WITH just a few days to go before voters cast their votes in the next General Election, the Limerick Post has published the results of their online candidate polls that has run for the last three weeks.
THE results of the Limerick Post Online general election polls have been published after an unprecedented amount of interest from the online community who opted to have their “virtual” say in the next general election.
When asked to cast a first preference vote for a candidate of their choice in the Limerick City constituency, Limerick Post online readers showed a wealth of support for Fine Gael’s Michael Noonan who topped the poll with over 18 per cent of the voting.
With 16.8 per cent of the vote cast, Maurice Quinlivan (SF) kept Independent candidate Kevin Kiely (15.9%) and Fianna Fail’s Willie O’Dea (14.6) at bay.
The Labour vote seemed to be split amongst the party’s two candidates with Jan O’Sullivan (8.7%) just beating her colleague Joe Leddin (6.6%) by two percentage points.
The best of the rest left CSP representative Cian Prendiville on 5.9 per cent with Fine Gael’s Kieran O’Donnell and Fianna Fails’ Peter Power sharing 5.1 per cent of the vote.
Green party member Sheila Cahill took 2.5 per cent with Independents Matt Larkin, Denis Riordan and Conor O’Donoghue (CSP) making up the remainder.
Paddy Power betting would indicate that both Noonan and O’Dea will be returned with Kieran O’Donnell and Jan O’Sullivan taking the other two seats – some of the Limerick Post readers will differ with that.

In the County constituency and gathering 32 per cent of the vote was Fianna Fail’s Niall Collins who rocketed home with over one third of the votes cast going in his favour.
In a surprise, Labour eyes will be smiling as the poll suggests that James Heffernan will be returned as a topper in the county with 18 per cent of the vote going his way.
Independent candidate John Dillion will be buoyed ahead of Friday’s election with 15.8 per cent of the voters first preference votes going to the county Limerick native.
Dan Neville (FG) with 14.2 per cent and his party colleague Patrick O’Donovan with 12.7 per cent, seem to be the two that will sit the next Dail out as they fell short of first preference options from the online voters.
Fine Gael’s Bill O’Donnell took 5.7 per cent with Independents Seamus Sherlock, Patrick O’Doherty and Con Cremin making up the balance with Green Party Stephen Wall all on below one percent of the vote.
Again, Paddy Power betting indicates a difference with the popular bookmakers opting for Dan Neville, Niall Collins and Patrick O’Donnovan the three candidates tipped to make the trip to Dublin for the next Dail.
