NEW Scénic and Grand Scénic are the first models in their segment to use TFT (Thin Film Transistor) technology for its dashboard display. The technology, used for computer screens, gives a customisable, clear, high resolution colour display that automatically presents drivers with the information they need, at the right moment, including vehicle speed, cruise control and speed limiter status and door-open alert. It can also show the view from the rear parking camera and transmits the audible warnings from the parking proximity sensors.
For those owners whose computer does not have an SD card function, Renault will provide a USB-type SD reader.
Across the range, New Grand Scénic features an impressive choice of audio and communications equipment. At entry-level, Royale models are fitted with a 4x15W RDS radio and MP3 compatible CD player that can play digital music files from disc. Dynamique and TomTom Edition models benefit in addition from Bluetooth® connectivity and an RCA socket for portable music players.
New Grand Scénic is Renault’s first production car to feature a reversing camera system – a first in its class.
Available as option on TomTom grade, the reversing camera assists safe parking by displaying a real-time view of the area immediately behind the car on the navigation system screen. At the same time, the TFT (see above) screen displays a colour depiction of the car, indicating the direction the driver needs to steer to park. This is overlaid by a second colour illustration, showing the path of the vehicle as it moves.
The TFT screen also displays an outline view of the vehicle with nearby obstacles behind picked out using colour coding.
