Dig the € sign – PASQUAL€

A BOLD new production, Pasqual€ is  a re-imagining of Donizetti’s comic masterpiece Don Pasquale. Hauled into the testing 21st century by director Annilese Miskimmon, “PASQUAL€ comes to University Concert Hall on Tuesday March 8,” says Emma Foote of UCH. “The powerful cast includes familiar OTC favourites, with Martin Higgins from The Marriage of Figaro 2010 and The Barber of Seville 2008 as Don Pasquale as well as young Irish soprano Claudia Boyle from Bastien and Bastienne 2009 playing Norina”.

Pasqual€’s cast also has new OTC Young Associate Artist Nathan Morrison and talented baritone Andrew Ashwin.
“We join the action as Don Pasquale, the foolish old banker, is outraged by his nephew’s involvement with the beautiful but notorious widow Norina,” Emma tells us. “As a result he threatens to disinherit his nephew. This action triggers much mayhem and madness, as plots and counterplots are hatched, while subterfuge and disguises abound”.
This year is Opera Theatre Company’s (OTC) 25th anniversary but the Don is with us for one night only on Tuesday March 8. The 8pm comic delight has a chamber ensemble directed by Roy Loughlin, Belfast based.
