Da Vinci programme meets Limerick meets Rennes

LIMERICK  College of Further Education’s learners are undertaking a three week work placement in France this month – six began work placement in the city of Rennes, Brittany on Monday February 7.
Work experience is an integral part of most courses provided at Limerick College of Further Education, Mulgrave Street. Placements enable those involved  to develop skills in their vocational area  and competencies through periods of work-based training.  They provide access to different working practices and new technologies.

LCFE runs a  Leonardo da Vinci Mobility Programme, the EU action programme for the implementation of a community vocational training policy.  One of its main aims is to support transnational mobility projects for individuals, especially young people undertaking vocational training.  Trainees are placed  in vocational training establishments abroad.  Trainees receive grant funding enabling them to travel and live abroad for the period of the work placement.
Leonardo funding is available at present to LCFE learners studying on courses which take a foreign language element; learners from courses such as Marketing with a Language and Travel and Tourism Services are taking part in the programme this year.
