Ultimate Transformation WEEK ONE

The lucky winners of the Ultimate Transformation 2011 were Amanda Hogan and Janet Binions. Jason Kenny of Forever Fit Promotions is putting them through their paces at the University of Limerick Sports Arena Gym. He is developing a specific program tailored to their needs aiming that they train twice a week in the gym as well as advising on extra days exercising in between.

Amanda has finished her first week of detox and has already lost 6 lbs. She said the diet was quite easy to follow. After the detox, she had the first of her colonic irrigation treatments at Ultimate Health “which was great because all the toxins lodged in my colon were removed during this treatment. It was very relaxing and I had a total boost of energy afterwards.”

Janet has just completed her detox programme and will soon start her colonic irrigation treatments. She found the detox diet ok saying “detox seems normal now” but struggled with the morning porridge made from water and without sweetener until Caroline at Ultimate Health found her an alternative sweetener to get her through it. Janet said she’s “looking forward to the challenge of what’s ahead in the next five weeks!”

This week begins for both Amanda and Janet with their Personal Training program, in the University of Limerick, Sports Arena Gym, where as always Dave Maheedy and Alan Ward are only glad to allow us to use the facilities. It will be Amanda and Janet’s first introduction to this type of training. During this week I will go through some basic fitness & core testing. I’ll introduce cardio and resistance training to them and try isolate their areas of strength and any areas of weakness. From there I will develop a specific program tailored to their needs. Amanda and Janet will be aiming to train twice a week in the gym and also be advised to take on extra days working out on other days while not attending the gym.

Update from Amanda:

Today Tuesday the 1st of February was my first week weigh-in I am thrilled to say I have lost a massive 6LBS. I followed a detox diet from Ultimate Health Clinic along with a brisk walk every day. The diet was quiet easy to follow as you can see:

BREAKFAST:
Slice of kiwi
Porridge flakes with water
1 slice of McCambridge brown bread
2 colon cleansing capsules

MID-DAY MEAL:
Home made vegetable soup
Plenty of water
2 colon cleansing capsules

EVENING MEAL:
Steamed chicken
Brown Rice
2 colon cleansing capsules

Supplements:
1 tablespoon of golden linseeds twice daily
1 evening primrose 1000mg
2 tea-spoons of Aloe Vera

During the detox I had:
NO DAIRY PRODUCTS,
NO FRUIT OR SUGAR,
NO SALT OR PEPPER,
NO TEA OR COFFEE &
NO ALCOHOL
This detailed detox is only for the first week my diet will vary from week to week.

After my week of detox today I arrived at Ultimate Health to have a colonic irrigation treatment which was great because all the toxins lodged in my colon were removed during this treatment. It was very relaxing and I had a total boost of energy afterwards. I will be having another colonic next week so i am looking forward to that.
The girls in Ultimate Health have also arranged for me to meet my personal trainer for the next six weeks to discuss the fitness side of this Ultimate Transformation and I am going to give it everything I’ve got. I am meeting the trainer on Saturday morning and I will tell you all about that next week when I fill you in on all this weeks events.
Mandy.

Update from Janet:

SAT29TH: On Friday evening, as I was tucking into my lasagne and garlic bread not a vegetable in sight, I opened the Limerick Post to see if there was anything about the Ultimate Transformation competition. I’d entered it 2 weeks before, but as it was 10 days past the closing date I was disappointed I hadn’t won but was going to follow the winners to see how they got on and what it involved. Now I was staring at my name under the heading WINNERS in shock I just kept staring at it. Why had no one contacted me, was this a mistake? On Saturday morning I rang the Ultimate Health clinic and spoke to Caroline who had been trying to contact me. I WAS a winner now it was all go, first meeting at the clinic on Tuesday, start this diary, and read up on the website about their detox diet. The detox scared me this will be no easy task for me I love my food all the wrong things especially bread, cheese, biscuits, cake, and takeaways, not to mention my COFFEE but I’ve been given this great chance and I’m going to give it 100%.
SUN30th: drank a litre of water to-day a big deal for me and bought some green tea I don’t drink it ordinarily so this will be a new experience for me but I’ll leave that till Monday- 7am right now I’m going to enjoy a Chinese takeaway, a bit like the last supper!!!!! Excited and nervous about the next 6 weeks!
MON31ST: Did my first detox day and it went well, I was starving but kept drinking water and that helped. I must say I don’t think much of green tea had 3 cups today its pretty rotten reminds me of a farmyard but I better get used to it, it’s that and water and nothing else. Have my first meeting in the Ultimate Health Clinic tomorrow so I’ll learn more about the program then. Also got great support in work when I told them what I’m doing thanks lads.
TUE 1st: Stuck to detox all day and pretty pleased with my self. Went to the clinic for the first time and it was a great help getting everything explained to me. Have my first treatment on Thursday 10th so have to stay on detox till then – thinking positive I CAN do this! Rice veg and fish for supper not as bad as I thought, I enjoyed it.
WED 2nd: Did well on diet today started all my supplements, feeling a bit tired but it’s mid week could be that. I miss the flavour of what I normally eat, detox is tasteless but have 3 days done, I’ll be off it in a week.
THUR 3rd: Busy day to-day found I wasn’t drinking as much as the last few days, I was tired after work but drank another litre and it really perked me up, it works wonders. Detox still on track but I’m struggling with the PORRIDGE wont let it beat me. Only a week to go.
FRI 4th: Another good day on detox and feeling good. I have a small bit of a headache, also I didn’t sleep well last night but that could be the thoughts of porridge keeping me awake!! Might just have fruit and brown bread tomorrow morning. Half way there – 5 down, 5 to go.
SAT 5th: Met with Jason the personal trainer this morning, he really put me at ease about the training and we’re starting in the gym on Tuesday and after our chat I really want to get stuck in. Also got my treatment changed to Tuesday so if all goes well I could be able to add some more foods to my diet, met Amanda as well this morning and she filled me in on what’s ahead.
SUN 6th: Detox seems normal now, I have added xylitol a sugar that Caroline said I could use on the porridge hate to say it beat me, but it did. It’s so different sweetened. All other meals grand – using a lot of fresh herbs for taste and cooking in different ways to add variety. Looking forward to starting everything on Tuesday and the challenge of what’s ahead in the next five weeks.
