Trial begins of man accused of armed robbery

THE trial has begun at Limerick Circuit Court of a man accused of armed robbery in Galbally, county Limerick on 2007.
25-year-old Declan Whyte, with an address at Lattin, Co Tipperary, faces three charges in connection with the incident dating back to 2007. A jury will hear evidence from the State after Whyte pleaded not guilty to all three charges before the court. The State will allege that Whyte was part of an armed and masked gang involved in the robbery of €14,000 in cash from the home of Seamus Morrissey at Lissard, Galbally on September 19, 2007.

The second charge pertains to the false imprisonment at the home of the man and his family who operated a panel beating business in the area, as well as having an interest in a casino operation.
