Getting back to work in challenging times

-

LIMERICK’S work force, both employed and unemployed will benefit from a series of workshops where CareerVision, will share their professional secrets with the public where one is scheduled for the South Court Hotel on January 27 next.  Currently, CareerVision are supporting many multinational and semi-state organisations throughout the country, with career planning, talent development and outplacement programmes. They also see clearly that the general public need expert help, now more than ever, to succeed in job hunting.

According to the CSO Live Register in November 2010, 13.5% of the workforce are currently unemployed which means that there is huge competition for all jobs advertised.
Elaine Gennery, Director of CareerVision says that “there is a good supply of excellent job opportunities out there, but many are not being advertised and the competition for them is fierce.  We make no apologies about the fact that our programmes are all about sharing the recruitment tips and tools to help our clients successfully navigate today’s labour market. We are all about results.”
And indeed the results speak for themselves – with over 60% of clients who have worked with Careervision back in employment within three months.
Careervision have a long history of working successfully with unemployed people nationally. They have had great success with an ‘Over 50s’ programme aimed at getting people over 50 back to work. Many people over 50 who have been made redundant believe that their age makes them unemployable but within three months of finishing the programme, all participants who wanted employment were back working. They run a very successful Executive Networking and Support training programme (8 days) which is aimed at getting professionals, managers and executives back to employment.
For managers, professionals and executives who are in the unfortunate position of losing, or having lost their job, this programme is a God-send. These individuals are often used to a hectic and busy lifestyle where communication is constant.
Elaine Gennery explains that “once isolated by redundancy, job-loss depression and inertia can quickly overtake the mindset, sapping self-confidence and energy with every second. Fighting it, by providing the opportunity for individuals to keep in touch, avail of support and attend networking events / professional seminars can be a powerful stimulant for success”.
Fred Grainger participated on one of Careervision’s programmes in July 2009 after being made redundant from a management position with a distribution company. Now successfully employed as Business Improvement Executive with Irish Rail, he believes that Careervision and their Executive networking and support programme played a big part in helping him secure employment again. He says “not only did I learn extremely useful skills and techniques that helped me to find work within a short time of completing the course, the structure, tutors, pace, and engaging environment, helped restore my self-confidence to the point where I was able to persist, and succeed, despite the difficult conditions that we currently find ourselves in. I learned that while the situation is bleak, there are jobs out there, but the old traditional methods of job seeking just don’t make the grade anymore. Thankfully, for most of us on the course, this was a turning point in a challenging period.”
Careervision will continue to run their very successful job search and career development workshops through Ireland in 2011 and these are available as one day programmes or a suite of programmes to maximise impact can also be tailored to meet individual needs.
For more information about these programmes please see www.careervision.ie or email [email protected]
