LIMERICK based wireless broadband provider, Ripplecom has been included in the 2010 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 winners list.
The company, has been listed at number 33 in the prestigious league table of the fifty fastest growing technology companies in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The Fast 50 programme, now in its 11th year in Ireland, this year features 15 companies from Northern Ireland and a further 35 firms from the Republic. The average growth rate of the Fast 50 companies named in this year’s ranking is 623 per cent.
Ripplecom CEO, John McDonnell credits the company’s growth to a strong product offering and the delivery of next generation broadband to rural and semi urban areas of the country.
“With over 500 access points and operating in 18 counties, Ripplecom serves residential and business customers in the rural and semi urban areas. The core focus of the company is to provide broadband connectivity for all and to this end Ripplecom is working closely with communities to deliver a fit-for-purpose broadband service as we expand our network”, added Mr. McDonnell.
Headquartered in Raheen Business Park, Ripplecom began trading in 2009 following the merger of two Irish Wireless Internet Service Providers, Amocom and Callidus/Omnitel.
In May 2010, the company acquired the broadband network previously operated by Ice Communications Ltd., trading as Ice Broadband. Last month the company announced that it is investing €500,000 in its national broadband network infrastructure before the end of 2010.
According to David O’Flanagan, Partner, Deloitte, he said that; “Ireland’s high mobile phone penetration has led to a number of companies being successful in the development of software to support the global telecommunications industry. Irish companies have also excelled at utilising the web to sell consumer services globally. These are industries we have seen develop and mature over the past decade.”
