Design Week Limerick is part of Design Week 2010 – in conjunction with Crown Paints – happening all over Ireland from November 1-7, 2010. Here in Limerick the coordinators have put together a listing of the many and varied events happening around the city during this time from talks to Fashion exhibits to the large-scale ‘Table of Contents’ show, and a Pecha Kucha night, (a presentation event where each presenter has just 6 minutes 40 seconds to explain their ideas before the next presenter takes the stage.
Conceived as a venue through which young designers could meet, show their work, exchange ideas, and network, the format keeps presentations concise, fast-paced and entertaining).

Tuesday-Friday November 2-5 Foyer of Limerick School of Art and Design Exhibition of ‘and my mother knit me a balaclava’ 2nd Year Fashion students at LSAD present a KNIT project, using mainly ‘hand knitting’ techniques and creating their own yarns. The Brief: students were to choose one of two themes NATURE – natural colours / soft tones / organic textures or Ethnic/ Urban Culture – strong colours / structure / form. Coordinator: Liz Spillane.
DISPLAY OF DESIGNING USING STRETCH FABRICS
Tuesday-Friday November 2-5 Limerick School of Art and Design, internal foyer by the lift (just inside main foyer) This is a final year Fashion exhibition, based on the research of stretch fabrics. ‘The extremities of the stretch and the softness of the drape’. The Brief was to introduce interesting cutting techniques and innovative finish to a ladies wear top. Coordinator: Siobhan Hanley.
