The losses included top level staff of three executives, 20 managers and the remaining 84 made up from support and structure staff.

Prior to the announcement, said a staff member: “We are under no illusion, there could be losses of jobs, paycuts and possibly more.

“There have been rumours floating around for months”. Mr Rueckhart also met senior managers at the company.

Shannon Aerospace specialises in the overhaul of short and medium-range aircraft and looks after over 50 airlines.

“There a still a lot of aircraft coming through but the level of work isn’t as high. A few years ago we were charging €60 a man-hour, that now stands at €45”.
The Limerick Post has also learned that there could be a change in operating name to that of parent company Lufthansa Technik.
The new CEO recently turned around one of the loss-making German operations and made it profitable.
