It has been almost nine months since Claire Finnan and Jennifer Shaw took to the floor on the RTE programme Dragon’s Den. Their pitch was the first in the history of the programme to receive the backing of all five Dragons. Their brainchild, the Pregnancy and Baby Fair, (running on October 9 and 10 at the RDS) will bring together over 120 leading names in childcare, from small bespoke manufacturers – including Limerick’s Pandora Bell confectionary – to big name brand experts and leading childcare professionals.
This is the first show for Claire and Jennifer and it has grown beyond their expectations. As Jennifer explains, “Our idea was to offer families the convenience of accessing experts, and sample products, and enjoy a fun day out on a bigger and better scale than was ever seen in Ireland.” Claire added, “There were over 75,000 births in Ireland last year so we knew the audience was there and that there is certainly an appetite for information amongst parents, we just didn’t expect to reach this scale of show with our first event!” With the support of the Dragons and the shows sponsors; SMA, Johnson & Johnson, Bank of Ireland, Littlewoods Ireland, Tesco, Sudocrem, Philips Avent and the Irish Daily Mail, the Pregnancy and Baby Fair is on course to be the parent and baby event of the year. If you are planning a pregnancy or already a parent, the Pregnancy and Baby Fair on October 9 and 10 promises e n t e r t a i n m e n t , competitions and all the brands not to mention the Pregnancy and Baby Fair Goody Bag, which is generously stocked with a massive range of products courtesy of the sponsors and exhibitors. The event will showcase over 100 exhibitors in the main hall and entry is 10euro for adults and free entry for children under 12 years. Tickets for the show can be purchased in advance at www.ticketmaster.ie or on the door at the event. For further information please visit www. pregnancyandbabyfair.ie
