World music DJ, Brian Hartnett is currently running a multicultural night on Thursdays. World Film & Music combines a screening of a world cinema film at 9pm followed by a DJ set from Brian afterwards. This weeks film is ‘The Lover’ (France 2005) directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. For the the DJ set, expect to hear current favourites, Intinn: Emerald Island (Ireland); La Sonora Dinamita: Mil Horas (Colombia); Chalachew Ashenafi: Munit (Ethiopia);

John Steele, best known as a guitarist/singer with bands such as The Jaywalkers, Joe Browne & The Dirty Dawgs and The O’Malley’s is a regular in Foley’s House of Blues. While he has contributed to many recordings over the years he will release his solo work for the first time early next year. John is this weeks special guest at SongWriter Session, the Loft this Thursday September 23.
The winner of The Top 50 Alternative People run by Limerick’s internet TV station, Flip It TV is Noel Hogan. Noel was praised for the help he has given to new upcoming Limerick bands and his achievements with The Cranberries. DJ Tall John came in second followed closely by metal promoters Bad Rep Ireland!
Limerick Live 95FM’s contemporary Irish music show Green and Live, presented by Alan Jacques, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Phonographic Performance Ireland (PPI) Awards on October 8.
Jacques and his show (10pm Fridays) was short-listed for the coveted award for its coverage of the ‘Battle For Bob’ competition to find a local support act to open for Bob Dylan at Thomond Park last July.
