CRUNCH crisis has done damn all to dampen the wellspring of native creativity. Art will out, design and beauty flourish in the doldrums as we witness inspirational activity rostered by the city and county powers working with artists and archivists. Good people, rise up and meet the challenge of Culture Night, Friday September 24, which lays open our visual, literary and historic riches to all, events being free but not for nothing.
The taper(s) light at 5pm with 50 city events alone running parallel to urban Culture Nights for every age group throughout Europe. Meanwhile our county arts office determined that its constituency should also be served with a sampler of what our artists and creatives muster, shape, provide and live by.
Print off the well-documented Limerick city schedule from hyperlink http://www.culturenight.ie/otherculturenights.asp?id=73 and for county highlights, refer to www.lcc.ie arts&culture to be sure to be sure of what’s on and where.
Living beyond city limits? Joan Mac Kernan, county arts officer, thinks county/ country dwellers “will find it to be a night of entertainment, discovery and adventure”.
