Donal O Grady set to manage Limerick hurlers

Donal O'GradyIT is believe that Cork All Ireland winning manager and player Donal O Grady is to be ratified as the new Limerick Senior hurling manager. The Independent Appointments Committee of Damien Quigley, Paudie Fitzmaurice and Jim Woulfe are expected to put forward the RTE pundit as their nomination for the Treaty’s hurling role.

Donal O’Grady, the former principal of the North Monastery CBS in Cork city and member of the St. Finbarr’s club in Cork, captained the Rebels to a second consecutive National Hurling League in 1981 before winning his first Munster title in 1982. O’Grady starred the 1984 centenary final where Cork defeated Offaly.

The St Finbar’s club man then coached Cork in 2003 and 2004. During his two year term,O Grady won a Munster championship and an All Ireland. Making household names of some of the Cork stars.

With O Grady’s appointment expected to be signed sealed and delivered this week, hurling fans in Limerick can no look forward with great hope to the new season. Something that this time last year was only a dream.
